Man Utd have contacted multiple goalkeepers as well as Andre Onana in new twist
De Gea gives update on Man Utd future ahead of Sevilla match
Manchester United have sounded out Andre Onana over a potential move to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports. However, the Red Devils have also reached out to candidates in the event David De Gea stays at the club as well. The 32-year-old is currently due to become a free agent, with no new contract signed.
Manchester United had, mere weeks ago, been expected to tie De Gea down to a new contract and prolong the veteran’s stay at Old Trafford.
However, it’s unclear if that will now happen with the 32-year-old yet to put pen to paper on a fresh extension.
And the Daily Mail say United have sounded out Onana over a possible move to the Premier League this summer.
The Inter Milan star impressed for the Serie A giants last season, making 41 appearances and helping them reach the Champions League final.
Though they’d lose to Manchester City in that showpiece event, the 27-year-old still produced a strong showing between the sticks.

Onana previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, with the pair winning three league titles together.
And he’s better-suited to the Dutchman’s style of play due to his ability with the ball at his feet.
The report does say, however, that United have also ‘held talks’ with some candidates for a back-up role at the club.
Though De Gea is facing the prospect of being a free agent, hope of a renewal hasn’t vanished completely.
The United star has made it clear on numerous occasions that he wants to stay, having been at the club ever since 2011.

Yet whether that happens is something only time will tell, with De Gea’s current deal due to expire next Friday.
It’s claimed ‘all options remain on the table’ now the summer transfer window is open for business.
United do still have Dean Henderson on their books, with the England international previously seen as a future No 1 at Old Trafford.
However, Nottingham Forest want to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent basis having seen the shot-stopper shine at the City Ground last season.
Meanwhile, regarding De Gea, former United goalkeeping coach Eric Steele recently opened up on the stalwart.

And he insisted the Red Devils should stick with the Spaniard instead of spending money on a new No 1.
“He’s still in his prime, he’s still young as a goalkeeper but look at the experience,” said Steele.
“He’s not going to be far off 550 games by the end of the season, and that’s at 32 years of age.
“I wouldn’t want him to be lost to Manchester United and the Premier League.
“Hopefully they will get this deal sorted and he stays part of the Ten Hag era.
“It’s down to David and the club. I think it’s about time it was sorted.
“We keep hearing it’s going to be resolved but we’re in May now. His contract runs out at the end of June.
“It would be nice to have an announcement to say which way it’s going.”
