Man Utd ‘halve Anthony Elanga price tag’ ahead of summer clear-out
Erik ten Hag reviews Man Utd's win against Fulham
Manchester United have reportedly halved their asking price for outcast forward Anthony Elanga. The Red Devils initially planned to loan the Sweden international this summer but could now look to sell to raise funds for an expensive transfer window.
Elanga has struggled for game time at Old Trafford, despite being included for Erik ten Hag’s first win as United boss in August. The winger assisted Jadon Sancho’s goal in the 2-1 triumph over Liverpool.
However, the 21-year-old played in just 418 Premier League minutes – the equivalent of only four-and-a-half full matches. Elanga now looks set to depart after failing to make a full breakthrough into the United first team.
The Old Trafford hierarchy had initially hoped to loan Elanga for the 2023-24 season. That would have seen him gain valuable game time and potentially return a more experienced player come the following campaign.

But United will now allow the academy graduate to depart and have reportedly halved their valuation of the player. According to the Manchester Evening News, the Premier League club hope to get around £10million for Elanga, as opposed to the £20m they had once valued him at.
Elanga was omitted from 10 of Ten Hag’s final 13 matchday squads. The emergence of teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho has seen the Swede fall further down the pecking order for the wide positions.
He could be one of several outgoings from Old Trafford in a major overhaul. Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Fred are among those who supposedly also face uncertain futures.
United are expected to prioritise a move for an elite striker over the coming months. There is an apparent acceptance that Marcus Rashford must be absolved of the sole scoring burden.

Anthony Martial’s hamstring injury, which is expected to keep the Frenchman out of the FA Cup final, has reinforced the need for a new forward. Harry Kane is believed to be one of United’s top targets for the position, while Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos have also been linked.
United could face difficulty trying to lure Kane from Premier League rivals Tottenham, despite the England captain entering the final year of his contract. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly desperate to ensure the striker sees out the next 12 months in North London and does not want to sell his prized asset to a domestic rival.
The Sun claim that United is Kane’s preferred option, although there remains interest from abroad. Kane is supposedly willing to run down his contract if he is not allowed to move.
