Man Utd fans rush to praise Solskjaer after dreadful Erik ten Hag start

A number of Manchester United fans have rushed to praise Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the dreadful start to the season from Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman is the new man in the hotseat at Old Trafford having taken over from the interim Ralf Rangnick. The German, who was axed at the end of last season, was temporarily brought in to replace Solskjaer – who lost his job last season.

There were dark times under the club legend but the final nail in the coffin was a 4-1 defeat to Watford in November 2021. However, the deep malaise that has seeped in is yet to be uprooted and Ten Hag is the latest manager to find that out.

It has led to some fans gushing praise on Solskjaer for his handling of the club over three years. After the shocking 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Brentford on Saturday, some are realising that the manager might not be the problem.

One fan said: "Watching that match last night one thing became very apparent… solskjaer was a genius." And another wrote: "One day the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer haters will realize what he done with that squad was pretty decent."

This fan posted: "Solskjaer knew the limitations of our team. He played to their strengths and sacrificed parts of his style of play to make the best of a bad situation. Underrated and scapegoated."

And one more wrote: "I think a lot of people need to apologise to Ole Solskjaer. He performed miracles with this set of clowns and mercenaries."

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Solskjaer last season when Liverpool dominated the Red Devils in a 5-0 defeat at Anfield. Next week, United host their biggest rivals and a similar result will only crank the pressure up further on Ten Hag despite only arriving in the summer.
