Man Utd fans left surprised by Dan James goal as winger nets Wales winner

Manchester United fans were left surprised by Daniel James’ goal after he bagged the winner for Wales.

The 23-year-old forward was on target for his country in a 1-0 win over Czech Republic in their World Cup qualifying match.

With 10 minutes to go and a man down thanks to Connor Roberts’ second yellow card, it looked to be ending as a bad day at the Cardiff City Stadium.

But Tottenham forward Gareth Bale managed to loop a cross to the edge of the six-yard box after keeping the visitors penned in.

And James, who stands at 5ft 5in, climbed higher than Czech full-back Jan Boril to win the header.

He slammed it into the floor, leaving goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik helpless as it hit the top corner before the United star wheeled away in celebration.

When footage was shared of the winning goal, though, fans were surprised to see the 23-year-old scoring with his head.

“Daniel James scoring with a header – things you love to see,” one supporter said.

Another commented: “The little man scoring a header – great!”

While a third compared the forward to a Premier League legend, with: “When did Daniel James turn into prime Alan Shearer with a header like this?!”

And a fourth added: “Small man header? Nice one DJ!”

A fifth called on James to repeat his efforts at club level, with: “More of this in United colours now.”

With a sixth saying: “Superb goal Dan – keep it up.”

And a final supporter simply said: “Like a leaping salmon! Fair play.”
