Manchester United fans were left in hysterics thanks to Marcel Sabitzer’s hilarious post-match interview after knocking Fulham out of the FA Cup.

United progressed to the semi-finals of the competition on Sunday following a late meltdown by the away side. Willian was dismissed for a handball on the goal-line in the 72nd minute, and he was followed into tunnel shortly after by manager Marco Silva and goal-scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, who were both sent off for dissent.

Bruno Fernandes converted the penalty to equalise and scored United’s third, while Sabitzer skilfully turned in the second to cement a 3-1 victory. And the Austrian endeared himself to fans even further with his blunt analysis of the game.

When asked by the reporter whether it was United that won or Fulham who lost, the midfielder shrugged: “We won it. Why not? We scored three, they scored one. We concentrated and were focused.

“I think we deserved the win. We had some chances that we missed. Second half, we were 1-0 down, but, as I said, we came back and that’s the important thing.”

United fans loved his no-nonsense replies, with one Twitter user writing: "The way he said 'we won it'. Absolutely love this guy."

Another tweeted: "Sabitzer interview brilliant!!! For the goal and interview alone he has to be a red next season."

A third wrote: "Nah Sabitzer made me laugh with that interview. 100% zero nonsense," while a fourth added: "Marcel Sabitzer giving off Terminator vibes in his post match interview."

The bemused Bayern Munich loanee was the standout performer for the Red Devils in an otherwise disappointing display by Erik ten Hag’s men. They were on the back-foot for much of the game until Antony’s introduction sparked some life into the attack.

It was winger Antony who played the ball to Jadon Sancho before the Englishman’s shot struck Willian’s hand. And while the major talking point was the penalty being awarded and Fulham losing their heads, Sabitzer remained coy on the incident.

He said: "Haven't seen it. The referee said it so we go with it. I'm focused on the game.. It was easier for us [after the reds]. We had to be focused on the game and the result."

When asked about scoring his first goal for United at Old Trafford, Sabitzer added: "Massive. I'm so happy. An important one. I'm very, very happy now."
