Manchester United could be put off by the terms of a potential loan deal for Atletico Madrid hitman Joao Felix, according to reports. The Portugal international is being strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in the wake of the Red Devils’ failure to sign Cody Gakpo, who is heading to Liverpool. And Memphis Depay is one player to keep an eye on, though nothing is advanced when it comes to re-signing the forward from Barcelona.
Manchester United had been expected to win the race for Gakpo, who was on the verge of moving to Old Trafford back in the summer before Antony arrived instead.
Yet the Netherlands international is now heading to Liverpool instead, with the Reds willing to pay £37million to secure his signature.
United have been linked with Felix in the short time since, with Atletico willing to let the Portugal international leave on loan when the transfer window reopens next month.
However, according to The Telegraph, the terms of any potential loan deal could ‘put off’ the Red Devils as they look to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
It is claimed Felix is also wanted by Chelsea, with Blues boss Graham Potter appearing unwilling to place his faith in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang until the end of the season.
Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag is going to sign his own Haaland
United boss Erik ten Hag had been an admirer of Gakpo before it emerged he would be moving to Liverpool instead, with the fallen giants unwilling to challenge their rivals for the 23-year-old.
The report adds that United are now looking at what players are available on loan as they look to fill the void left behind by Ronaldo’s exit, with the 37-year-old leaving last month.
Depay is said to be ‘in that category of player’, with Barcelona willing to let him go next month after just 18 months at the Nou Camp.
But nothing is ‘down the line’ when it comes to a potential return for the 28-year-old.
Depay previously moved to United back in the summer transfer window of 2015 as a replacement for Angel Di Maria, who left for Paris Saint-Germain that same year.

But he was unable to achieve consistency throughout his time at Old Trafford and was sold to Lyon by Jose Mourinho in January 2017, having failed to make the grade.
United have rarely spent big in January in the past, though Bruno Fernandes was an exception with the Red Devils paying £47million to land him in 2020.
Odion Ighalo also arrived that winter on loan from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua and the Nigeria international netted five times before returning to his parent club.
United did land Alexis Sanchez in January 2018, with the Chile international arriving in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan join Arsenal.
Yet he never lived up to expectations and would end up being moved on to Inter Milan during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time in the dugout.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, revealed on Monday that United were looking to bolster their attack – but any signings would have to be the right one.
“Yes, we are aware we lost a striker, so I think we have to get a striker in, but it has to be the right one,” he said.
“The right one is a player that brings quality to the team, not just adding to the squad because that only gives you problems.
“And, you know the criteria is high here at Manchester United.”
But Ten Hag has also stressed he thinks Marcus Rashford can score 20 Premier League goals for United this season, with the England international now back to his best.
“I don’t want to pin myself on a number,” Ten Hag added.
“I said it from the start, Rashford is capable of scoring 20 goals in the Premier League, I am convinced about that.
“He now has four, but he has many other goals, he scored three at the World Cup, so he has the potential to also score that number of goals in the Premier League.”
