Man Utd could splurge on three stars during the summer transfer window

Manchester United could be set to splash up to £300m on four high-profile stars, with the Glazers set to unleash their staggering wealth this summer. The Red Devils have already enjoyed a successful first season under the stewardship of Erik ten Hag.

And with the summer transfer window just around the corner, the Dutchman could have a £300m “company credit card”, as reported by The Athletic, to spend on a number of sought-after stars when the window opens.

Here, Express Sport takes a look at three players who could be targeted by United if the Glazers use their funds to give the club chances of a Premier League title next season.

Victor Osimhen

Napoli will demand a club-record fee for Victor Osimhen this summer and are expecting a bidding war, with Paris Saint-Germain joining Manchester United in the race for his signature.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a superb campaign, with his 21 goals in 23 Serie A appearances helping Napoli establish a mammoth 26-point lead in the title race.

His excellent form – which has also produced four goals in as many Champions League starts – has alerted the attention of a host of European giants and Napoli fear they will not be able to hang onto their top scorer.

United are looking at Osimhen as an alternative to Harry Kane, with manager Ten Hag desperate to bring in a new, proven goalscorer in the summer, while Chelsea are also circling.

Frenkie de Jong

Barcelona are working on a deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this summer – a move which would throw the future of Frenkie de Jong, a United target, into question.

United had an initial transfer fee of £56.2m ($69.4m) agreed with Barca to sign him last summer, but the player’s wish was to stay at Barca.

The 25-year-old midfielder is, once again, top of United’s summer transfer shortlist as his former Ajax boss Ten Hag aims to bring him to Old Trafford.

Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid want to sign Jude Bellingham this summer but will not be drawn into a bidding war after Manchester United were urged to enter the race for the England international.

Madrid have emerged as the frontrunner for the signature of the Borussia Dortmund ace and the Spanish giants went so far as to hold a transfer meeting with Bellingham’s father Mark in London ahead of Dortmund’s Champions League clash at Chelsea earlier this month.

Old Trafford chiefs are believed to be huge admirers of Bellingham and they want to add a central midfielder to their squad this summer, following on from the arrivals of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro this season.
