Manchester United are in the market for a new centre-back this summer and club captain Harry Maguire has reportedly urged the Red Devils to sign Ben White from Brighton and Hove Albion. Maguire has been ever present since making the move to Old Trafford back in 2019, featuring in every Premier League game.
This season, Maguire has been regularly partnered by Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly but both players have had their struggles with injuries.
As a result, a centre-back is thought to be high on their list of priorities for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The likes of Sevilla star Jules Kounde, Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Villareal defender Pau Torres have all been linked with United.
However, according to the Transfer Window podcast, Maguire has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he would prefer to play alongside an English-speaking centre-back.

Maguire is said to want a partner who has Premier League experience and will complement his attributes.
White is reportedly one of the players mentioned as a potential addition, with the 23-year-old impressing both in defence and midfield for Brighton this season.
He has made a total of 30 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls after a strong campaign on loan at Leeds United last season.
Speaking earlier this month about speculation linking White with moves away from the Amex, Brighton boss Graham Potter insisted he had no concerns that player would get his “head turned”.

“I have no worries about Ben getting his head turned,” Potter said. “He is a level headed guy who wants to play football and of course he wants to do it at the highest level, just like you want all those players to have those ambitions.
“He gets on with his work and he was totally professional in the summer despite the noise from outside the club, which you can’t control.
“He knows that, he’s a smart guy and we will carry on with our work and help him to enjoy his football, which is the most important thing.”
Along with a new centre-back, United will likely need to sign a new striker this summer, with Edinson Cavani expected to leave after just one season at Old Trafford.
The forward’s father, Luis Cavani, recently told TyC Sports that his son was unhappy in England and wanted to return to South America.
“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again,” he said. “Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.
“Edinson had many conversations with [Juan Roman] Riquelme [Boca Juniors second vice-president] and he would like to play for Boca. He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.
