Man Utd boss Ten Hag ‘frustrated’ over Greenwood as new details emerge
Attempted rape charge against Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood dropped
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly ‘frustrated’ at the length of time the club’s investigation into Mason Greenwood has taken. The England international had charges dropped against him back in February. He’s now hoping to revive his career, with the 21-year-old last playing for the club in a 1-0 victory over West Ham in January 2022.
According to The Mirror, Ten Hag has been involved in talks over the future of Greenwood along with John Murtough, the Glazers and Richard Arnold.
And it’s claimed the 53-year-old is ‘frustrated’ by the length of time the investigation into the England international has taken.
Greenwood had charges dropped against him in February, with the striker then reacting to that development by saying: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.
“There will be no further comment at this time.”
While Ten Hag is frustrated, however, he is said to ‘respect the sensitive nature of the case and the need for due process to take its course’.

A final decision is now expected before the beginning of the new season.
United didn’t want the Greenwood situation to overshadow or disrupt their campaign last term as Ten Hag guided his side back into the Champions League.
Since a 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, however, discussions have intensified.
Regardless of what happens with Greenwood, United plan on signing a new striker.
They’d love to acquire Harry Kane but know Tottenham are reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival.

Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen is admired but, like Kane, the Nigeria international will command a premium fee.
United have been linked with Rasmus Hojlund, who now appears to be Ten Hag’s No 1 transfer target for up top.
Goncalo Ramos and Dusan Vlahovic are also options, having impressed for Benfica and Juventus respectively last season.
Regarding Greenwood, one possibility is the 21-year-old leaving on loan.
Juventus have emerged as potential suitors, while Atalanta have been credited with an interest on Friday.
And Simon Jordan, speaking recently, expressed a belief any loan deal for Greenwood would be sensible.
“Where this young man sits now is he’s no longer being charged,” he told talkSPORT.
“I argued this a while ago when we covered it about the presumption of innocence and the presumption of innocence is something we should have in real terms.
“But the court of public opinion will make its own decisions about what they heard and what they know about this young man.
“That puts him in the way of a variety of challenges.
“One of them is Man Utd’s perception of its image around the world and the other is what he’s going to be subjected to, by the very nature of what we know to be a very blunt, cruel and often appraisal of anything football fans can get at to try and disadvantage a player.
“With all those factors in play, I think it’s a sensible move [loan overseas].
“It’s not kicking the can down the road.”
