Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag forced to choose between Antony and Martinez transfers

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will reportedly have to choose between Antony and Lisandro Martinez in the summer.

The Dutchman feels that Ajax trio Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez and Antony are part of his plans, reports the Mirror. Timber has opted to stay with the Dutch side as he has ambitions of getting into Holland’s World Cup squad. But Martinez in recent days and Antony remain viable options. Ajax have already rejected an offer for the former from Arsenal in the region of £30million.

Antony is a winger valued at £50million and is another top target but Mirror report that Ajax will not let both the Brazilian and the centre-back leave in the same window as they are both core members of the side.

Indeed, Ten Hag will have to choose between the pair – or he will have to come over the top with his offers.

The same report suggests that Ajax are not in desperate need for money this season as they are Champions League regulars again and are about to sell West Ham striker Sebastian Haller to Borussia Dortmund for £30million.

Before that they made £16.6million via Ryan Gravenberch, who joined Bayern Munich. In fact, the Dutch giants have earned a big £350million over the course of the last four years, with the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, Donny van de Beek and Hakim Ziyech all being able to leave.

When asked if he was keen on signing Timber or Antony this summer, the new Man Utd boss told De Telegraaf: “I think that all top clubs in Europe have Timber in their sights, but I think that currently applies to a lot of Ajax players.

“If Antony were to go, it would be a loss for Ajax, because you have no one in the current selection who can take over his position.”
