Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are facing the prospect of having to part ways with at least £100million to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, reports suggest.
Kane is in demand this summer, but Tottenham remain adamant that he’ll be going nowhere.
Daniel Levy doesn’t want to lose his star man, and is expected to ask for an English transfer record fee in order to part ways with him.
Tottenham have reportedly begun sounding out alternative strikers, with Gabriel Jesus and Anthony Martial both believed to be on their radar.
Kane is said to be confident that Levy will stick to the agreement they allegedly made a year ago, which was apparently made after a rejected bid from Manchester City.
The striker, who wanted to go to the Etihad in the 2020 summer window, reportedly agreed to wait a year and see if things improved in N17.
Instead, however, things went backwards and Spurs limped into a European Conference League place.
Kane has made no secret of his desire to leave this summer, and is expected to hold showdown talks with Levy over a potential exit.
However, The Independent claims Tottenham don’t want to sell Kane unless they receive a bid in excess of £100m – as well as being offered a player in exchange.
Tottenham are likely to rebuild their team this summer if Kane goes, and are expected to use the money from a potential sale to fund new signings.
And if they were to receive a big-name player from one of the interested clubs, that could help in that rebuild process.
City are believed to be the frontrunners, due in some part to Kane’s desire to play for the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
The England captain spoke last week of his desire to play with Kevin de Bruyne, and City are on the hunt for a new striker.
Chelsea and United are both eager to sign a new striker this summer.
Both want Kane, though it seems unlikely they’ll be able to prize him away from N17 without paying a significant fee.
The Blues have, however, now given up on Erling Haaland, reports suggest, leaving the door open to the Red Devils.
Chelsea are also looking at Romelu Lukaku, but Kane remains a target, with Thomas Tuchel a big fan of the Englishman.
