Man Utd and Arsenal handed Neves boost over Wolves star’s transfer preference

Manchester United and Arsenal have been handed a boost in their battle to sign Ruben Neves this summer from Wolves.

The midfielder has reportedly got his sights set on leaving the Molineux at the end of the season after five years at the club. Neves has been an integral part of the team since his arrival while becoming a fan favourite in the process.

However, the 25-year-old is ready to take the next step in his career and wants to move to a new club where he can play in Europe. United and Arsenal are both interested in the Portugal international, who has made his decision on where to go.

According to the Daily Mail, Neves wants to stay in the Premier League – snubbing interest in his services from Barcelona and Juventus. Furthermore, Wolves have priced him at £70million.

While that would be a steep valuation, both United and Arsenal are desperate to bolster their midfields. Ralf Rangnick has been left shocked by the state of the squad since arriving as interim manager and has already told Erik ten Hag that he might need as many as 10 players this summer.

And at Arsenal, Mikel Arteta's priority is a striker but he is also very aware of the fact that his midfield is incredibly light when missing Thomas Partey or Granit Xhaka.

Neves has two years left on his contract at the Molineux while he has helped Wolves establish themselves as a Premier League outfit. But with the Champions League firmly in his sights, he is ready to move to a new club.

Super agent Jorge Mendes represents the former Porto star, as well as his old Wolves buddy Diogo Jota, whose move to Liverpool has seen him go from strength to strength. There could be some major changes at the club this year with Adama Traore also looking to leave.
