Man Utd ace Rasmus Hojlund gives supporters two reasons for excitement

Man Utd complete signing of Rasmus Hojlund

New signing Rasmus Hojlund has been unable to make his debut for Manchester United due to injury but fellow United and Denmark team-mate Christian Eriksen has given supporters an idea of what to expect from the 20-year-old when he eventually takes to the field.

Eriksen believes Hojlund will adjust well to the Premier League once he gets into his stride and has described him as an “aggressive” and “attack-minded” player – two attributes that the Red Devils were lacking last season. In an interview with United’s official website, he said: “He’s a guy who holds his ground. He doesn’t back down from anything.

“He’s really a front-foot guy, who is aggressive and really attack-minded. But, at the same time, a nice guy outside of football. I will definitely [pass my experience of the Premier League on] but he will definitely see it for himself,” Eriksen added.

“The Premier League is different compared to any other league he’s been at before. So he’s going to have to adapt. But I’m sure he will adapt quickly.”

Hojlund finally began training with the team recently after picking up a stress fracture in his back and could be in contention to make his debut against Arsenal next Sunday, according to reports.

Delivering an update on the Danish goal machine ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest last weekend, Erik ten Hag said: “Not for tomorrow. (He’s) near. Today, for the first time, he came into team training so next week we expect him to do a full week of team training so he is near to the squad.”

United have been plagued by injuries so far this season with Mason Mount out until next month while Kobbie Mainoo and Tom Heaton also remain unavailable. Defenders Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are set for several weeks on the sidelines as well leaving United scrambling to find replacements at left-back.

The club have drawn up a shortlist including Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso, Brentford’s Rico Henry, free agent Ryan Bertrand and Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham. Contact has been made with Cucurella and Alonso, who currently lead the pack.
