Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes is reportedly set to receive a £100,000-per-week pay rise following Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival.

The Portuguese superstar has been in talks over new a deal for months, and is now close to putting pen to paper on a mega contract.

Fernandes has been convinced that his future remains at Old Trafford after the signing of close pal Ronaldo and significant investment in the transfer market.

According to The Sun, the 27-year-old – who attracted attention from Real Madrid and Barcelona during the summer window – will see his salary increase by almost £100,000-a-week with the new terms.

The report adds that the midfielder's new contract will last until 2026 and could even be announced within the next few weeks after successful talks.

Fernandes's star has shone bright since his £46.6million move from Sporting Lisbon in January of last year, with the Portuguese talent becoming an integral part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team.

Indeed, Fernandes was one of the main reasons Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford from Juventus over the summer as they close team-mates at international level.

His current deal runs until 2025, but another year is expected to be added onto that along with the option of a 12-month extension further down the line.

Despite his bumper new deal, the penalty king could still be behind the likes of Ronaldo, David De Gea, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba in the wage hierarchy at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is understood to be on around £500,000-per-week following his switch from Juventus.

Nevertheless, Fernandes is expected to be up among the top earners at the clubs, once bonuses and added incentives are included.

The former Sampdoria man has enjoyed a terrific start to the season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in five matches so far.

That assist came in United's 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on Tuesday night – a result that leaves the Red Devils bottom of their Champions League group.
