- However, the 28-year-old has indicated that he wants to move to Old Trafford
- Both Varane and Kieran Trippier could potentially be too expensive though
- Inter Milan and AC Milan are both looking to sign Alex Telles on a loan deal
- Diogo Dalot’s sale seems a way off, with Axel Tuanzebe interesting Newcastle
Manchester United are expected to place a formal offer for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this week.
United are wary of reports saying talks over personal terms and a fee are advanced as they make steady progress in discussions for the France international.
The 28-year-old has indicated he wants to join United, though nothing is yet agreed, with a price of £50million for a player who has one year left on contract is still considered too high.

However, the Red Devils may find Los Blancos’ valuation of the 28-year-old defender too steep
Kieran Trippier is also interesting United – but the right back could also prove too expensive
United retain an interest in Kieran Trippier, but again talks are not advanced, with Atletico Madrid’s valuation an obstacle.
There is interest from Inter and AC Milan for Alex Telles, but their proposals have been for loans, while talks have not developed over Diogo Dalot’s sale.
Newcastle United are among the clubs keen on a loan deal for Axel Tuanzebe, who wants to play more regular football, particularly with Varane expected to join.
Tuanzebe will be among the United players travelling to Derby County’s Pride Park for their friendly against Wayne Rooney’s side on Sunday before spending a week at England rugby union’s training HQ Pennyhill Park.

United will face Wayne Rooney’s Derby County on Sunday before playing QPR next Saturday
The state-of-the art complex has been used by England’s football team and NFL sides in recent months, as well as Rooney’s Derby squad last week.
United had a Covid scare this week with an outbreak among staff, but it is not expected to affect the main party due to travel today.
Pennyhill Park is seen as an ideal and safe location for United’s players rather than risk travel abroad. They face QPR on Saturday, July 24 in their next friendly.
