Man United 'rejected NINE players offered to them' including Depay

Manchester United ‘rejected NINE players offered to them this summer’ – including Christian Pulisic and Memphis Depay – with Erik ten Hag taking hard line on incomings at Old Trafford

  • Manchester United rejected nine players during this summer’s transfer window
  • Former star Memphis Depay and Christian Pulisic were among the names linked
  • United’s move for Antony closed the door on Yannick Carrasco’s possible arrival
  • Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo was also in the frame for a summer switch

Manchester United were offered nine signings during the transfer window including former star Memphis Depay and Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic.

After a slow start to the summer window, boss Erik ten Hag was able to bring in six new faces to help lift the doom and gloom around the club.

The Red Devils managed to lure five-time Champions League winner Casemiro as well as adding Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Martin Dubravka.

Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay was reportedly offered to Erik ten Hag

Chelsea’s out of favour forward Christian Pulisic was also linked with a switch to Old Trafford

According to Fabrizio Romano, United were offered nine other players but opted against a move for any of them.

Romano announced on his YouTube channel that Depay was among the names offered to United this summer.

The Dutchman had an 18-month stint at the club but departed for French side Lyon in 2017, after failing to find his best form at Old Trafford.

But Ten Hag’s insistence on a reunion with Ajax star Antony made Depay’s homecoming a non-starter.

Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic was another name offered to Ten Hag with the USA international falling down the pecking order under former Blues coach Thomas Tuchel.

Leandro Paredes was offered to Man United before completing a switch from PSG to Juventus

Former Barcelona star Sergino Dest was discussed but ended up at Serie A champions Milan

Manchester United were also offered former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes who completed a last-ditch move to Juventus and Barcelona’s Sergino Dest who also ended the window in Serie A with AC Milan.

Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco was discussed but the arrival of Antony closed the door on the Belgian while Juventus’ Weston McKennie was also sounded out for a move.

Other names mooted were Borussia Dortmund right-back Thomas Meunier, Brighton’s midfielder Moises Caicedo and Napoli’s Hirving Lozano – who all remained with their respective clubs.
