Man City star Bernardo Silva once refused to take down Xmas tree for ‘good luck’

Bernardo Silva once refused to take down his Christmas tree until way after the festive season had finished as a 'good luck' superstition to continue Manchester City's winning streak.

The 26-year-old has been in sparkling form for Pep Guardiola's side this season netting seven goals in just 14 Premier League matches.

Silva has already matched his best-ever league return with over half a season still yet to play.

And if his rich vein of form continues, he could opt to maintain the seasonal festivities for longer than the winter period – replicating his superstition from two years previously.

That's because Silva refused to take down his Christmas tree in case the dismantling of his decorations caused City to fall to a second-half season slump.

In May 2019 the midfield maestro took to Instagram posting a photo of his Christmas tree still situated in his living room adorned in gold and red baubles.

Though it must have brought the team some luck as City had just thrashed Watford 6-0 in the FA Cup final just three days prior to the image being uploaded.

Silva commented: "Bad luck?? It’s staying up!!!"

Can anyone stop Manchester City from claiming another Premier League title? Let us know in the comments section.

And it wasn't just the FA Cup where City enjoyed the benefits of Silva's Christmas tree – its magical powers extended into the Premier League too.

Pep Guardiola's side piped Liverpool to the league title by a single point thanks to the incredible vein of form in the final few months of the season.

The Cityzens won their last 14 Premier League matches to snatch the trophy away from their rivals, finishing on 98 points.
