Man City fans furious as Liverpool’s opener ‘obviously swings out of play’

Fans have been left furious with Liverpool's opening goal with some claiming the ball "swings out of play."

The Reds took an early lead against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley when centre-back Ibrahima Konate headed in from a corner kick. But football fans have been left baffled as one angle along the touchline shows the flight of the ball.

Left-back Andrew Robertson swung his cross into the congested penalty area in the ninth minute, but the angle appears to show the ball going out of play according to some fans. One person took to Twitter and said: "Did that corner not go out of play for the Konate goal?"

Another fan wrote: "Swear that corner for the Liverpool goal went out of play." While one City fan said: "Fairly sure the ball was out from the corner, won’t be checked."

"Corner obviously out of play. Another beneficial decision for Liverpool. It never ends," another fumed. While one other said: "Corner was swung out of play and there was a clear foul in the box. No VAR. Usual rules breaking."

Jurgen Klopp's side have capitalised on their early lead, with Sadio Mane netting as he rushed to close down keeper Zack Steffen. The winger bagged another just before half-time as his volley arrowed into the near post to put the Reds three goals to the good.

But before the game had started, a small section of Manchester City supporters could be heard singing during the minute's silence for Hillsborough. Referee Michael Oliver appeared to blow his whistle slightly earlier than planned, with Liverpool fans then booing the disruption from the City end.

The tribute was held for the 33rd anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster which tragically claimed the lives of 97 Reds supporters.
