Man City face Guardiola quitting after club charged with over 100 FFP breaches

Pep Guardiola could leave Manchester City if it is confirmed he has been “lied to” by the club over its alleged 100 financial regulation breaches.

Shocking news emerged on Monday morning that reigning Premier League champions City had been charged with breaching the league’s financial rules between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons.

An investigation launched into City’s alleged cheating in March 2019 accuses the Abu Dhabi-owned club of various transgressions. They include overstating sponsorship income, doubling former manager Roberto Mancini’s wages via a secret contact with an Abu Dhabi club and breaking rules over approaches to young players.

City could be hit with a variety of disciplinary measures such as a points deduction, fines, being stripped of their titles or even expulsion from the league. And they could even face their four-time Premier League manager Guardiola quitting in a rage.

The latest revelations come after the Spaniard claimed back in May that he would put his neck on the line for everyone at the club as long as they were honest with him. He added that he would leave immediately if he felt the club hierarchy lied to him over their behind-the-scenes actions.

Guardiola said. “Why did I defend the club and the people? It’s because I work with them.

“When they are accused of something I ask them: ‘Tell me about that.’ They explain and I believe them. I said to them: ‘If you lie to me, the day after I am not here’.

“‘I will be out and I will not be your friend any more. I put my faith in you because I believe you 100 percent from day one and I defend the club because of that.'”

The ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is City’s most successful ever manager with 11 trophies. His side are currently second in the Premier League, five points behind leaders Arsenal.
