Harry Maguire has raised hopes he will be fit for Manchester United’s Europa League final next week after he was spotted without his crutches or protective boot on Thursday night.

The Red Devils captain has been wearing a support boot and walking with crutches since picking up an ankle ligament injury against Aston Villa earlier this month.

But the defender was spotted without both as he attended the premiere of ‘Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In‘ on Thursday night, alongside his team-mates and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer admitted Maguire’s chances of making the Europa League final against Villarreal on May 26 ‘didn’t look great’ after United’s draw with Fulham.

But the Red Devils boss said he was remaining hopeful and may have more cause for optimism after seeing his skipper without his crutches or protective boot,

‘Hopefully we can have good news early but I’ll give it a while on Harry,’ Solskjaer said on Tuesday.

‘He’s shown his importance. I felt I became a very good player when I was injured. People realise what you can do.

‘Harry is our leader and he’s been a big miss at the moment. I’ll give him as long as he needs before he says yes or no.

‘He’s making progress but we don’t want to test it out too early. Harry wants this so much but he doesn’t want to take risks either.

‘When I spoke to him this morning, he was quite positive. We have to be positive and think he’s going to make it, until we have to say no. I’ve always been an optimist.’

United have not won since losing Maguire to injury, with defeats against Leicester and Liverpool before the 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Marcus Rashford was also in attendance at the premiere in Manchester on Thursday

The defender had played every minute of every game prior to his withdrawal at Villa Park.

England boss Gareth Southgate will also be hoping the 27-year-old makes a full recovery in time for the Euros this summer.

Southgate is due to name his 26-man squad for this summer’s tournament next week.

Maguire was joined by several of his United team-mates at Thursday’s premiere in Manchester including Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Brandon Williams and Phil Jones.
