Lukaku 'set to hold talks with Pochettino to resolve future'
Romelu Lukaku ‘is set to hold talks with incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season to resolve his future’… but ‘it’s unclear whether the Argentine will keep him’ as he needs to trim a bloated squad
- Pochettino is set to be named as Chelsea’s new head coach ahead of the summer
- He will reportedly meet with Lukaku to discuss the striker’s future at the club
Chelsea’s on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku is reportedly set to hold talks with incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino about his future at Stamford Bridge this summer.
The forward had a reported falling out with former head coach Thomas Tuchel before departing on-loan to Inter Milan, just months after taking part in an unauthorised interview with Italian media.
It has since been revealed that the Belgian could return to Chelsea, with ESPN sources stating that he is set to hold talks with the incoming Blues head coach.
While being keen to stay in Italy, Lukaku is expected to return to Stamford Bridge to discuss whether he has a future under the new boss, likely to be Pochettino.
It remains unclear as to whether the former Spurs manager would look to keep Lukaku at the club or sell the forward to trim the Chelsea squad that he is set to inherit.

Mauricio Pochettino is favourite for the Chelsea job and wil make a decision on Lukaku’s future
The forward could look to revive his career at Stamford Bridge after Thomas Tuchel left
With 31 players already part of the first team at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will look to sell players – something that they must do anyway to ease Financial Fair Play pressure.
The report continues to state that despite Lukaku being on loan at Inter, there is no option or obligation for a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
Therefore, the Italian side would have to re-enter negotiations if they wished to complete the permanent signing of Lukaku.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, there could be a spot for Lukaku if he wishes to try and revive his career at Chelsea.
It’s unclear as to how the Blues fans would take any return as the player made it clear he did not want to play under Tuchel last season.
Chelsea have also been linked with several reinforcements in the forward areas ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, any moves would likely depend on outgoings during the next few months, with Pochettino set to evaluate his squad when hired as head coach.
