Romelu Lukaku will meet with Chelsea chiefs on Monday to discuss his future following his controversial comments.
The striker re-joined the Blues for a club-record £97.5million in the summer but has caused uproar after admitting that he is unhappy at the club.
The Belgian declared in a damning interview with Sky Italia that he regrets departing former team Inter Milan in the most public of come-and-get-me pleas.
Having been dropped from Chelsea's matchday squad by manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of Chelsea's crucial clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Lukaku has now provided an update as the saga rumbles on.
According to NBC Sports, the wantaway Blues striker messaged former Everton teammate-turned-pundit Tim Howard to say a meeting has been planned for Monday as the two parties look to resolve his future.
The American broadcasters revealed Lukaku sent a secret text to Howard saying: "I can’t say too much. The situation is hot. I have another meeting on Monday. After that, I can say more."
Lukaku previously told Sky Italia: "Physically I'm fine. But I'm not happy with the situation at Chelsea. Tuchel has chosen to play with another system – I won't give up, I'll be professional.

"I think everything that happened last summer was not supposed to happen like this, how I left Inter, the way I left the club, how I communicated with Inter fans – this bothers me because it was not the right time.
"Now it's the right time to share my feelings. I have always said that I have Inter in my heart.
"I know I'll return to Inter, I really hope so. I am in love with Italy, this is right moment to talk and let people know what really happened."
It remains to be seen how Chelsea will handle the Lukaku affair going forward, but one thing is for certain: Tuchel isn't best pleased.
"We don't like it of course," Tuchel said in response to the striker's public outburst. "It brings noise that we don't need and it's not helpful.
"We don't want to make more out of it than it actually is. It is easy to take lines out of context, shorten lines, make headlines and then realise later that it is not so bad."
