Liverpool’s transformed squad next year with Khephren Thuram part of overhaul

Liverpool have already moved swiftly to bolster their squad ahead of next season with Alexis Mac Allister joining and talks are reportedly taking place on a deal for Nice star Khephren Thuram. Express Sport takes a look at how Jurgen Klopp’s squad could look by the start of next season with five total transfers.

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Adrian, ZIELER

Caomhin Kelleher grew frustrated last year at a lack of football and it appears as though Liverpool will be willing to let him leave for the right price. A replacement will be needed for the Irish goalkeeper, even with Adrian set to sign a new contract.

Liverpool will also need to keep an eye on filling their homegrown quota for the Premier League squad and Ron-Robert Zieler fits that criteria. The Hannover goalkeeper spent his youth in England including a spell with Manchester United and could be available for a cut-price figure as a back-up to Alisson.

Defenders: Alexander-Arnold, Ramsey, Gomez, Matip, COLWILL, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Tsimikas

Klopp will no doubt be hoping to have Calvin Ramsey available to him next season after an injury-ravaged maiden campaign on Merseyside. A back-up right-back is needed to fill in for Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Ramsey should be able to fill that role with a full pre-season of training to build up his fitness.

It’s in the centre of defence where changes may be made with Levi Colwill seen as a top target as he too helps Liverpool for their homegrown quota further down the line. Chelsea will be cautious about selling to a direct rival, but it’s been suggested a fee of around £40million could be enough to get a deal done.

Midfielders: Fabinho, Bajcetic, Thiago, Henderson, MAC ALLISTER, THURAM, KONE, Elliott, Jones

It’s in midfield where the obvious changes are set to be made with Mac Allister already arriving in a £35m deal. Liverpool aren’t wasting time either with suggestions they’re already in talks with both Thuram and Manu Kone.

The French duo are currently preparing for the Under-21 European Championships, which get underway later this month. Signing both players along with Mac Allister would see Liverpool directly replace Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a massive overhaul of their midfield options.

Attackers: Diaz, Gakpo, Jota, Salah, Nunez

No need to change things in attack with Liverpool boasting one of the most potent forward lines in world football. Klopp will have to rotate on a regular basis next season to keep everybody happy, but the Liverpool manager will be more than happy to have the options at his disposal.

Fabio Carvalho looks set to be either loaned out or sold this summer with the Portuguese star struggling for minutes last season. A replacement is unlikely to be signed should Carvalho be sold though as Liverpool are well stocked in the attacking department for the time being.
