Liverpools potential XI next season with Pedri and Euro 2020 star Sanches

Liverpool finally captured an elusive Premier League trophy during the 19/20 season, and hopes were high for Jurgen Klopp's men heading into the 20/21 campaign.

However, the Reds only secured Champions League football on the final day of the season, and it had looked at times like they wouldn't snatch a European berth altogether.

And Klopp will be looking to avoid similar disappointment this season as his Reds look to hit the same highs they did two years ago.

Daily Star Sport are having a look at how Liverpool could line up next season as they continue their pursuits of Pedri and Renato Sanches.

Born in the Canary Islands, a slender 17-year-old Pedri spent the season Liverpool won the league helping his home town club, Las Palmas, avoid the drop to the Spanish third tier.

One year later, and Pedri – who is now at Barcelona – is keeping the Red's Thiago Alcantara out of the Spanish Euro 2020 side.

Pedri mainly operates on the left-hand side of the midfield, however, he can play centrally.

Should Klopp want to keep his 4-3-3 shape then Pedri could be deployed as the left midfielder as part of the middle three – alongside Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita or his international teammate Thiago.

Renato Sanches, on the other hand, has spent the last couple of years out of the limelight.

Euro 2016 was meant to be Sanches breakout tournament, and his Portugal side secured the title whilst Sanches moved to Bayern Munich.

However, he struggled to impress, and after faltering at Swansea, he rediscovered his feet at Lille – who shocked France when they won the Ligue 1 title last season.

Sanches plays as the deepest midfielder, similar to Fabinho, and he would lock horns with Brazilian for the starting spot, but, crucially, add much need squad-depth to the midfield.
