Liverpool have been linked with moves for sought-after central midfielders Yves Bissouma and Jude Bellingham in recent weeks. And the addition of the two midfield stars would leave Jurgen Klopp with a refreshed first XI capable of challenging for the top honours again.
Brighton and Hove Albion’s Bissouma is an all-action midfielder in the mold of Georginio Wijnaldum, who left Liverpool for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
And the 25-year-old Liverpool target told the BBC last week that he considers himself to be the best midfielder in the Premier League.
“I know in the Premier League there are so many good midfielder, but for me, it’s me,” he said. “That gives me the confidence and the energy to work hard to show people I am here and I am Bissouma.”
And Liverpool have also been linked with a bid for England and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
The 18-year-old is one of the biggest midfield talents in Europe and a target for the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City. But Klopp is reportedly confident of bringing the former Birmingham City youngster to Anfield in 2022.

Liverpool’s relative lack of transfer activity in the summer was criticised by fans, with centre-back Ibrahima Konate being the only significant arrival in his move from RB Leipzig.
But reports of interest in long-term midfield solutions such as Bissouma and Bellingham will be encouraging to Liverpool supporters.
And the pair’s arrival would also leave Liverpool with an extremely strong first XI next season.

In defence Liverpool may require long-term strengthening, but in the short-term a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robinson ahead of Alisson Becker is one of the best back-lines around.
And up top Liverpool have proven and consistent quality in the wide forward areas, where Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah continue to rack up impressive numbers. And 24-year-old Diogo Jota looks increasingly likely to force Roberto Firmino out of the central role in Klopp’s attack.
And that just leaves the midfield three, where the loss of Wijnaldum, the ageing legs of Jordan Henderson and the continuing underperformance of Naby Keita leaves room for new faces.
Should Liverpool succeed in signing Bissouma and Bellingham then the duo would appear well-suited to slotting straight in alongside holding midfielder Fabinho to form a formidable trio.

Bissouma and Bellingham could be the future, but Liverpool’s present sees them level at the top of the table with Chelsea after five wins and a draw at the start of the campaign.
“I think we can’t stop now, but we are doing a really good start to the season,” goalkeeper Alisson Becker said after Saturday’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
“We need to keep working hard and having the same mentality and just keep on going.”
