Liverpool transfer round-up as Jurgen Klopp makes worrying admission
Jurgen Klopp is yet to make any moves this month in the transfer market – but that may not be down to him.
The Liverpool boss eluded to the way recruitment is dealt with on Merseyside following their loss to Burnley.
The Reds are struggling for options in defence with both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out injured.
In attack they are also finding things difficult but it seems unlikely that any new faces will be bought in to assist in the final third.
Summer signing Diogo Jota will soon return in what is a timely recovery.
We bring you the latest transfer rumours coming out of Anfield as the champions struggle for form.
Klopp's worrying admission
Klopp has claimed that transfer decisions are above his head with Liverpool yet to sign anyone this month.
Their lack of options at the back is well documented but now their attack looks to be misfiring.
Less than a fortnight of the window remains, but the German insists he cannot go about demanding new faces.
He said: "These decisions are not my decisions. If somebody thinks we should do something [they will decide]," Klopp said, following the defeat to Burnley.
"I cannot decide if we do something in the transfer window or not, that must be clear. But that's not something I'm thinking about.
"It's just we can, with this group, play much better football – that's my concern, that's what I'm thinking about."
Bayern clear on Upamecano
Bayern Munich have made it clear they want Dayot Upamecano this summer.
The RB Leipzig centre-half is available for a reasonable price and plenty of Europe's top clubs are circling.
Liverpool are thought to be one of them, but will have to fend off the Bundesliga giants if they want the Frenchman.
The German club's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "We will of course deal with it, not only with this player, but in principle with all the positions where we want and need to do something.”
Asked about a potential transfer agreement, he added: “It’s too early for something like that, he’s still a Leipzig player at least until the end of the season.
“But it’s common knowledge that he has a clause in his contract.”
Origi a loan target
RB Leipzig are now reportedly considering a loan move to sign forward Divock Origi.
According to German outlet Sport Bild, via Get German Football News, the Belgian is of interest to the title chasers.
Leipzig have proved to be shrewd operators in the market and believe they can get the best out of Origi.
The Reds forward has struggled for goals and opportunities in the past 18 months.
