Liverpool will be looking to build on their strong start to the Premier League season when they travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Sunday for a late afternoon kick off. And boss Jurgen Klopp has been given some welcomed news ahead of the clash.

Express Sport looks at how Jurgen Klopp’s side could line-up.

Goalkeeper – Alisson

There were doubts earlier this week over whether Premier League clubs would be able to field their Brazilian players after refusing to release them for the recent World Cup qualifiers.

But resolutions were reached in 11th-hour talks with FIFA and the likes of Alisson will be allowed to play this weekend.

The announcement comes as a huge boost to Klopp, with his ever-reliable keeper producing a string of stellar performances since arriving at Liverpool in 2018.

Defence – Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson

Klopp was given a scare in the week when Virgil van Dijk was seen limping at the end of the Netherlands’ 6-1 thumping of Turkey on Tuesday night.

But the German boss revealed his influential centre-back is fit and ready to take his place at the heart of the Reds defence this weekend.

Joel Matip has looked impressive alongside Van Dijk in Liverpool’s opening three games of the season and should keep his place, although Ibrahima Konate has been tipped to get his first start.

Andy Robertson, who missed the first two games of the season, returned for the clash with Chelsea before the international break and will line-up on the left side of the defence, with Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right.

Midfield – Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson

Harvey Elliott was in line to make his England under-21s debut this week but pulled out of the squad due to injury concerns.

The 18-year-old returned to his club for assessments and has since been given a clean bill of health to start Sunday’s game.

His fine form this season should be rewarded with another start alongside Fabinho and England international Jordan Henderson.

Meanwhile, Naby Keita is back in England after spending part of last week trapped in Guinea as armed forces launched a violent coup to seize power.

Forwards – Salah, Jota, Mane

Diogo Jota will lead the Liverpool line once again, with Roberto Firmino ruled out due to a hamstring injury he picked up against Chelsea.

Jota will be flanked by Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane after the duo returned without any injury concerns following their time away with Egypt and Senegal respectively.
