Liverpool star Kostas Tsimikas warned after "disgusting" actions at Wembley
Liverpool have reportedly warned Kostas Tsimikas of his responsibilities after footage appeared to show him spitting gum into the stands as Jurgen Klopp's side collected the Carabao Cup trophy.
Tsimikas, 25, was an unused substitute as the Reds overcame Chelsea 11-10 in a marathon penalty shootout to win the season's first silverware.
The Greek defender joined his team-mates as they walked up the famous Wembley steps to the Royal Box to collect their medals.
But, as he joined in the celebrations, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that he appeared to spit gum into the stands below – leaving fans disgusted.
Although nobody was below Tsimikas in the area into which he appeared to spit, the Reds have reportedly warned the defender about his actions and responsibilities, reports DailyMail.
Liverpool explained that their reserve left-back was getting rid of chewing gum, not spitting, and had no intention of hitting anyone.
Tsimikas is said to be 'apologetic' about the incident, which was broadcast on television around the world.
Nevertheless, Twitter users condemned the star.
One wrote: "That’s disgusting from Tsimikas."
Someone else said: "I hope someone has spotted that. That is disgusting."

Tsimikas joined Liverpool as cover for Andy Robertson in a £12million deal from Olympiacos two years ago.
He made just seven appearances in his first season at Anfield but has been more involved this time around.
The 5ft 10in defender has featured 18 times so far this term – providing three assists.
Reds boss Klopp praised the Greek star in November following his impressive start to the campaign.
"Kostas has a lot of quality," he said.
"He can push Andy Robertson, but Andy Robertson in my eyes is the best left-back in the world but it’s good we have the options to give Robbo a rest in moments – even when he doesn’t like it."
"Kostas needed time to adapt but he has done that now and we have to let him run free sometimes! Especially when you have the quality such as Kostas."
