- Bajcetic has been one of the few bright sparks for Liverpool in a dismal campaign
Liverpool wonderkid Stefan Bajcetic has confirmed he will miss the rest of the season with injury.
The teenager who broke into the first-team this season, missed their Champions League exit to Real Madrid on Wednesday due to what manager Jurgen Klopp described as a ‘stress response around the adductor’.
In a blow to Liverpool’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, Bajcetic has confirmed on social media that his injury is severe enough to keep him out for the rest of the campaign.
He said in a post on Instagram: ‘Unfortunately I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out until the end of the season.
‘It’s very sad to say goodbye to this amazing season for me but I understand this is part of football and will only make me stronger physically and mentally.

Bajcetic said it was ‘sad’ to ‘say goodbye to this amazing season’ where he broke into the team
‘I would also like to say thank you to you Reds for all the support through the season and I assure you I will do my best to be back stronger than ever.’
Bajcetic has been one of the few high points for Liverpool in what has been a dismal season for the Reds.
They have fallen from a side who just last year were two wins away from winning a quadruple, to one that won’t win a trophy this season, and face a huge up-hill task of finishing inside the top-four.
The 18-year-old has not looked back since coming off the bench to score in a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day – just his second Premier League appearance this season.

The Spanish teenager has been a regular presence in the midfield over the past two months
By the end of January he had become a regular figure in the starting XI, showing a level of composure beyond his years, and keeping some of Liverpool’s more experienced midfielders out of the side.
After playing 88 minutes against Bournemouth at the weekend, Klopp then confirmed on Tuesday that the Spanish youngster wouldn’t be available for Wednesday’s clash with Real Madrid.
Liverpool will have to look to qualify for Europe’s prestigious competition without the talented midfielder who they will hope to have fit and available for the start of next season.
Bajetic’s impressive performances led to the Reds tying him down to a four-year contract extension back in January.
