Liverpool remove Jordan Henderson from training ground as Reds move on
Liverpool have reportedly removed a picture of Jordan Henderson lifting the Premier League trophy in 2020 from their training ground following his exit to Saudi Arabia. Henderson’s 12-year Anfield career came to an abrupt end this summer with the Liverpool captain making the switch to the Middle East.
His departure, coupled with James Milner also leaving, left a hole in Liverpool’s captaincy group. Jurgen Klopp made a reshuffle of the club’s leaders with Virgil van Dijk given the captain’s armband.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was also named as the club’s vice-captain as the Reds moved into a new era. The full-back is already regarded as a club icon as the local boy who came through the Liverpool academy.
His face is already plastered around the club’s training ground having been a part of the club’s success in their hunt for silverware in recent years. Henderson was also a huge part of the trophy success and he’s honoured with pictures of his own around the training ground.
But the Liverpool Echo report that a picture of the former Liverpool captain has been removed from the training ground altogether. It’s said that a picture showing Henderson holding the 2020 Premier League trophy aloft has been taken down from inside the training ground.
It’s reportedly been replaced by a picture of Alexander-Arnold holding the Champions League trophy, with the quote: “I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dreams have just come true.” The quote came from Alexander-Arnold following the club’s Champions League win in 2019.

Then just 20 years of age, Alexander-Arnold played a mega role in Liverpool’s charge to their sixth European trophy. The full-back was humble after the win though, delivering his now famous quote.
“It’s hard to think of myself as a legend,” he said. “For me, I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dreams just come true.”
But Alexander-Arnold’s increased presence on the walls of Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre suggests he’s already establishing himself as a club icon.
