Liverpool have made an enquiry about the availability of France and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, but as contract talks with his current club continue to stagnate, Jurgen Klopp’s side are seemingly positioning themselves for a move.
The dominating factor in Mbappe’s situation is his contract with PSG which is set to expire next summer.
Having signed the youngster for a colossal £163million fee, the prospect of losing one of the world’s most talented forwards for free would be a huge financial hit for the Ligue 1 runners-up.
Talks between player and club over a new contract have been ongoing, although an announcement one way or the other does not appear imminent.
The player has hinted at a potential exit from France in recent weeks after appearing to avoid questions about his future when asked.

A report from Marca suggests that Liverpool’s enquiry for Mbappe is a move primarily borne out of ambition rather than expectation, as they know competition for the 22-year-old will be extremely fierce.
The widely held belief is that the player sees his future at Real Madrid.
However, with cash unusually tight at the moment for Los Blancos, it is not clear as to whether they could feasibly bring him in this summer.
The report also suggests that Liverpool could put Sadio Mane or Mo Salah on the table if it would make PSG more receptive to negotiations.

Naturally, swapping one goal-scoring winger for another goal-scoring winger in a player-plus-cash deal would take much of the immediate risk out of letting Mbappe go for the French side.
With Salah and Mane both approaching their 30th birthdays, their transfer values are set to decrease from window to window so if a shake up is required, now may be the time for Liverpool to try their luck.
Bringing Mbappe to Merseyside would be some achievement, although it would spell the end for the famed attacking trio of Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Liverpool have already been actively scouring the transfer market for an all-action midfielder with Gini Wijnaldum set to join Mbappe at PSG before the start of next season.
The Frenchman may or may not have his heart set on coming to Anfield, but the club cannot be faulted in terms of ambition when it comes to their latest move.
