Liverpool must not attempt to make a play for Real Madrid's Toni Kroos and instead opt to sign a midfielder with ‘younger legs’, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Everton striker said that he knows the German talisman is ‘world class’ but Jurgen Klopp must try and look for a player of similar prestige who’s younger.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the 31-year-old Real Madrid player via a report from El Nacional earlier this month.
The publication said that Kroos has reacted ‘positively’ to the interest from Liverpool and his fellow national Klopp even ‘contacted’ him in an attempt to sign him for the next summer transfer window.
But Campbell, speaking to Football Insider, said that the side should focus elsewhere.
“Listen, Kroos is a great player. He is world-class, make no mistake about it. He has got it all. A player that can score goals, can pass, has vision and an engine. I cannot see it happening, though.
“It really doesn’t make sense to me when you factor in his age. Liverpool need younger legs in there. They need players that are coming through.
“There is a lot of talk about Liverpool needing a midfielder but they have got so many already. It doesn’t make sense.
“I can’t see them signing Kroos, especially with Thiago [Alcantara] already there.”

Kroos signed a contract extension with the Spanish giants two years ago, keeping him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2023.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder has only featured in one game for Real Madrid so far this season owing to injury, and would reportedly cost the Reds around £20milllion.
Kroos retired from international football after Euro 2020, and is no stranger to lifting silverware, helping Los Blancos to achieve two La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his time there.
