Liverpool find door open for Watkins, secure youngster, and face Karius decision
Liverpool have had a relatively quiet transfer window, and Jurgen Klopp's side have only made one transfer so far.
Ibrahima Konate arrived from RB Leipzig – for £36million – earlier this summer to add much-needed depth to Liverpool's centre-back ranks.
However, the Reds have been quiet ever since.
Klopp's side struggled to defend their Premier League crown last season, and they snuck into the Champions League spots thanks to an excellent vein of form during the back-end of the season.
And Daily Star Sport has rounded up all the day's transfer dealings in Merseyside ahead of the new campaign next weekend.
Door open for Watkins
Manchester City securing the services of Jack Grealish for £100million on Thursday could open the door for Liverpool to secure the services of Ollie Watkins.
Danny Ings arrived in Birmingham as a result of the move, and Liverpool, who are long time admirers of Watkins, could move for the striker, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Aston Villa could be more willing to part ways with Watkins because of the Ings deal.

Loris Karius' last Reds appearance came in the 17/18 Champions League final against Real Madrid when he committed two howlers as Liverpool lost the final.
He has since spent two seasons on loan at Besiktas and Union Berlin respectively.
However, Liverpool may be forced to sell the German this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo, as they look to comply with registration rules.
