Liverpool fans in hysterics at Man City ‘covering up’ empty Wembley seats

Liverpool fans have been left in hysterics after pictures emerged showing Manchester City 'covering up' empty seats.

The country's top two sides are battling it out in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon just one week on from their entertaining Premier League encounter which ended 2-2. Thousands of fans from both sides have flocked to the national stadium to watch the game, but it appears one club had some trouble when it came to selling tickets.

Pictures have emerged on social media showing a huge Manchester City crest printed onto a banner which has been spread across a section of seats in the upper tier of the 90,000 capacity stadium. The area appears to be sectioned off, with hundreds of red seats left vacant in the City end.

@AnfieldWatch took to Twitter to share the image with fellow Liverpool fans, and said: "Seems Manchester City couldn't sell out their allocation at Wembley this afternoon." Football fans have been left in hysterics and have given their reaction to the picture.

One user responded and said: "Looks like they should've made a bigger banner too." Another wrote: "This is utterly embarrassing."

One other Reds fan ironically wrote: "Why can't we have a big flag like that? All we have is loud singing supporters!"

It comes as Jurgen Klopp admitted in his press conference that his Liverpool side were not at their best when they met the Premier League table-toppers last weekend. He said: "I think City was really strong last week and we were not at our best, so I would like to see a game where we are at our best as well. That would be interesting! Let’s give it a try.

"Maybe that would be a surprise, all of a sudden we are good. The boys did a lot of good stuff in the game but I really think in a couple of positions we are able to perform on a completely different level and I think we should give that a try. And it’s a cup game, a one-off, if it’s 2-2 again, it’s 120 minutes and if it stays like that it’s penalties and that would be really crazy if it goes all the way.”

City's starting line-up won't be as strong as last week's encounter, with Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne both picking up injuries in the fierce midweek encounter with Atletico Madrid. Guardiola said: "We are in big trouble, so we can't forget we played three days ago, travelled, come here, have a lot of injuries now and I don't know what will happen in the next weeks."
