Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Mason Mount’s situation at Chelsea as uncertainty grows about the England international’s future at the club. The 23-year-old’s contract expires in 18 months’ time and talks over a new deal have been put on hold until January with no breakthrough found ahead of the World Cup.

Liverpool are joined by Juventus in tracking the midfielder’s status at Chelsea and the clubs may look to launch a move for the player as they look to improve their midfield options as per the Guardian. The Reds may seek to include one of their own players to sweeten any deal for Mount as they look to see off competition from the Serie A giants for the 32-time capped international. Here Express Sport details some of the stars Jurgen Klopp could offer as he seeks to add to his squad.

Naby Keita

A swap deal involving Keita may work out well for all parties, with Chelsea previously reported to hold an interest in bringing him to the club at the end of the season when his contract at Anfield expires. Yet, a January move may help Liverpool too, giving the Reds a chance to get something for their player while the Blues would also have someone coming in to replace Mount.

However, there would be little pressure on Chelsea to allow the 23-year-old to leave in January given he is contracted until 2024 with a summer departure potentially more likely when Keita would be a free agent.

Joe Gomez

While Gomez has not been on top form this season, he has proved in the past that he is capable of top defensive performances. He is particularly well suited to playing in a back three, a system favoured by Graham Potter and he could therefore appeal to the former Brighton coach.

Gomez is unlikely to receive much game time at Anfield given he has fallen behind Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip in the pecking order and would be likely to jump at the chance of a move to Stamford Bridge.

Roberto Firmino

Chelsea have had issues upfront for years and Firmino could be the perfect player to solve these problems. He has been on top form this season scoring nine times in 21 appearances in all competitions while his link-up play has been among the best in the Premier League for years.

However, using Firmino in a swap deal could have the same issues as Keita with his contract at Anfield expiring at the end of the season. Furthermore, the Brazilian is something of a club icon on Merseyside and may want his next move to be away from England.
