Liverpool can land cheap deal after ‘talks’ if Juventus secure striker

Liverpool have cause to be on red alert following recent reports that Italian giants are stepping up their interest in Marseille forward Arkadiusz Milik ahead of a potential permanent switch. The 29-year-old Polish international has been on loan with the Serie A side, with Juve now keen to press ahead and acquire his signature for their own.

Following a miserable season in the Italian top flight, in which they were hit with a 10-point deduction, Juventus finished in 7th place and are feeling the immediate consequences as a result.

The Turin side failed to achieve Champions League qualification, and so will be without the top riches that the tournament brings each season. A byproduct means top personnel are so expected to be sold to the highest bidder.

Enter Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who have been reportedly keeping tabs on Italy forward Federico Chiesa for some time.

The pacey 25-year-old can play in a variety of postions across the forward line and has already had some form of contact with Anfield chiefs, according to Italian transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

It has been reported that Liverpool have made a brief play for Chiesa after holding informal talks with his family members in recent years.

Chiesa’s relationship with manager Max Allegri is understood to not be a strong one, and that the forward would be allowed to leave for a reasonable fee.

Following the conclusion of the Serie A campaign, widespread reports in Italy suggested Juve had placed themselves in a position whereby bids for any player in the first team squad would be considered on a case by case basis.

Should Juve advance in their negotiations with Marseille and secure the services of Milik, the need to retain Chiesa would decrease and thus play nicely in the hands for Liverpool to orchestra a cut-price deal for the star, valued in the region of £40m.

Juve are reported to have offered Marseille another £1m loan deal, with a further £4m to be paid in supplementary clauses.

Meanwhile Liverpool have hectic business of their own going on in the transfer market.

The Reds remain locked in a battle to secure the services of promising youngster Kephren Thuram from Ligue 1 side Nice, though may have to wait until the conclusion of the U21 European Championships before a deal can be struck.

Klopp’s side have also been linked with Manu Kone, along with Chelsea’s wantaway star Mason Mount.
