Jordan Pickford camp issues direct response to Man Utd transfer interest

Jordan Pickford’s representatives have issued a response to reports surrounding the future of their client. A statement claims the England goalkeeper is happy at Everton amid interest from Manchester United.

United are linked with a move for Pickford as potential competition for David De Gea. The Red Devils could attempt to sign the Three Lions star even if De Gea signs a new contract at Old Trafford.

Fellow England international Dean Henderson looks set to leave United on a permanent basis after spending a season on loan at Nottingham Forest. Despite missing much of the second half of the campaign through injury, Forest want to re-sign Henderson this summer.

That would leave Tom Heaton as the only other senior goalkeeper in Erik ten Hag’s squad. The Sun claims Ten Hag wants to sign a player who can challenge De Gea for the No 1 spot.

Pickford is at the top of the list, although Everton would demand around £30million for the 29-year-old. The report says Pickford would love to play in the Champions League, a competition United are back in next season.

However, his agents have now issued a response to the rumours. CAA Stellar claims Pickford is happy at Goodison Park.

The player’s family are settled where they are living and he is looking forward to the start of next season after fighting off relegation under Sean Dyche. The statement, issued to Twitter user @ElBobble, reads: “Jordan is very happy at Everton and very settled with his young family.

“He loves the club and will remain at Everton until we are told otherwise. He is excited to get back for pre-season and help push Everton up the table.”

Pickford has made 237 appearances for Everton since joining from boyhood club Sunderland in 2017. He has since established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for his country.

Pickford has been the No 1 for England at the last three major tournaments. Despite Everton’s poor form, he has maintained his spot ahead of the likes of Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale.

United, meanwhile, are still waiting for De Gea to sign a new deal. Ten Hag has stated on a number of occasions he wants the Spaniard to stay.

De Gea’s contract expires this summer and United have the option to extend it by a further year. However, they have held off from doing so as they want him to re-sign on reduced terms.
