Liverpool boss Klopp ‘U-turns on Mbappe’ with PSG star destined for transfer
Liverpool are reportedly out of the race to sign Kylian Mbappe next summer despite Jurgen Klopp previously admitting that he is a huge fan. The Paris Saint-Germain star is set to take on a new challenge once his contract expires at the end of the season.
Mbappe’s deal has just over six months left to run, and it was made clear during the summer that he has no intention of sticking around in Ligue 1. Real Madrid and the Reds are widely deemed to have the best chance of snapping up the 24-year-old.
But Sky Germany claim that Liverpool have decided not to push ahead with what would be a mega-money deal for Mbappe, paving the way for Los Blancos to chime in uncontested.
The report adds that the financial commitments needed to land the Frenchman are not currently under consideration at Anfield. The Bernabeu is therefore his most likely destination, although the La Liga giants may need to be patient.

Mbappe retains the option to extend his PSG stay by a further 12 months, which has not yet been categorically ruled out. The jet-heeled forward looked destined to join Real last summer before a last-minute change of heart saw him sign a lucrative new contract.
The Parisians are believed to be relaxed about the prospect of losing Mbappe as they will still receive a fee despite the player approaching free agency.

During an interview with The Telegraph, the France international admitted that talks had taken place between his camp and Liverpool during his younger years at AS Monaco.
“We talked a little bit, but not too much,” he explained. “We talked a little bit. I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her. It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”
Liverpool taking a backwards step in the hunt for Mbappe marks a change of direction from Klopp, who openly stated last year that he was on the club’s radar. “Of course we are interested in Kylian Mbappe, we are not blind,” said the German. “We like him and if you don’t like him then you have to question yourself. He is a great player.”
Mbappe is in scintillating form this campaign, netting 14 goals in 12 Ligue 1 appearances to top the division’s scoring charts, with PSG gunning for their sixth title in seven years.
