Liverpool and Arsenal fans in agreement Rodri deserved ‘clear as day’ red card
Manchester City’s midfield maestro Rodri was left an extremely lucky man after he escaped being shown a red card after fouling Liverpool flyer Cody Gakpo on the counter attack in City’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at the Etihad.
Rodri was booked after 33 minutes for bringing down Diogo Jota on the counter attack but avoided the same punishment just later on.
Liverpool opened the lead through a tidy finish from Mohamed Salah who placed his left footed strike across Ederson and into the top corner from just inside the penalty box after Jota had stayed narrowly onside to tee up the Egyptian.

With the Reds opener coming against the run of play, City began to press in search of an equaliser which left Liverpool free to attack on the counter at will when they broke up City’s attacks.
After Rodri was shown a yellow card for stopping Jota on the break, it was a surprise to see the Spaniard escape referee Simon Hooper’s book again despite his cynical attempt to bring Gakpo down which brought huge complaints from the Liverpool side pleaing for a second yellow to be shown.
The decision left fans of both Liverpool and City’s title rivals Arsenal furious about the decision with one Liverpool fan saying: "How’s Rodri not been sent off there then? Clear as day."
Another Reds fan commented on the decision: "Rodri should be off here!!!"

Even fans of the Citizen’s title rivals Arsenal were left baffled by the decision which left pep Guardiola’s most played player this season on the pitch.
"Loool Rodri should be off" a Gunners fan commented.
City struck back to level before half-time through Julian Alvarez who started in place of the injured Erling Haaland who missed the game after Guardiola told BT Sport: "He doesn't feel proper. It is not a big issue but today he was not right."
