Sir Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have reportedly agreed to invest millions into the Chelsea takeover bid led by Sir Martin Broughton.

According to Sky News, the Formula One and tennis legends have both pledged their financial support to the British businessman looking to buy the Premier League club from sanctioned owner Roman Abramovich. It's reported they will each put £10million into the deal.

Broughton, formerly chairman of Liverpool, is one of the interested parties in Chelsea, who were put up for sale by Abramovich earlier this year. It's claimed he has been in talks with Hamilton and Williams for a number of weeks to secure their support.

It appears Hamilton has agreed despite previously making his support of the Blues' London rivals Arsenal well known. The report states the F1 driver would 'play a formal role in Chelsea's future efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion'.

Williams, meanwhile, is already a part-owner of Los Angeles-based women's football club Angel City along with a number of other high-profile celebrities.

Broughton, who is also backed by Lord Coe, could soon learn if his attempts to buy Chelsea have been successful. Raine Group, the bank overseeing the sale of the club, could put their preferred bidder in front of the UK Government this week.

The 75-year-old is a lifelong Chelsea fan leading one of three remaining bids. He has secured funds from a range of investors in order to stake his claim.
