Leicester City and Newcastle abandoned their Premier League 2 clash on Friday after a member of the home team’s staff was rushed to the hospital.
The sides were contesting an entertaining 2-2 draw when play was halted and medical assistance was provided to the individual.
The Foxes confirmed that the tie has been abandoned shortly after and revealed their staff member had been transferred to a hospital as they awaited ‘further updates on his condition.’
The club was able to announce the good news of his release a short time later. ‘ We are pleased to report that, following examination by on-site medics, the staff member has been released from observation to recover at home.’ A statement read.
‘The Club expresses its thanks to Newcastle United, to the match officials and to on-duty medical staff for their cooperation, assistance and care.’
