Leicester are leading both Manchester United and Tottenham in the race to sign for Boubakary Soumare, described as the next N’Golo Kante, according to reports. Soumare is being courted by a number of teams around Europe at the moment.

Leicester are apparently set to pip both United and Tottenham to one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.

The Foxes are said to be looking at Lille midfielder Soumare ahead of a potential summer move.

The 22-year-old is highly rated, but is out of contract in just over a year’s time.

With no extended contract on the horizon, it seems he could be sold this summer.

United and Liverpool have both been linked in the past, and reports suggest Leicester are interested this year.

The Daily Star claims Leicester are leading the way for his signature.

Soumare plays as a central midfielder and has been compared to Kante in the past for his box-to-box ability.

He will likely cost at least £30million, but Leicester aren’t fussed about that price.

Leicester are on track to qualify for the Champions League for next season, and will therefore be able to attract top talent in the summer transfer window.

Soumare plays just in front of the defensive line, and his contributions for Lille have been clear for all to see this season.

Lille are starting a surprise title challenge, and have conceded just 19 times in Ligue 1 this season.

Leicester have a history of signing young talent from abroad and turning a profit.

The Foxes pulled off a masterstroke by signing Kante in 2015 for just £5.8m.

After one Premier League title-winning season, he signed for Chelsea in a deal worth £32m.

United are also still interested in Soumare, however, as Paul Pogba’s future remains up in the air.

Pogba will also be out of contract in just over a year’s time, and there hasn’t been any recent update on an extension.
