Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury provide contrasting updates on £200m mega-fight

For the last six weeks, promoter Eddie Hearn has confidently predicted he is no more than a fortnight from finalising a deal for the biggest fight in British boxing history.

Yet still we wait for an announcement that pen has met paper and that Anthony Joshua will meet Tyson Fury.
So why the hold up?

"I suppose you have whose name is first, who goes to the ring first, who has the first changing room, who will weigh in first," Hearn said earlier this month.

And perhaps with such big egos involved, those details really are the hardest to resolve.

But with the financial details agreed eight months ago, and the date and venue to be finalised after contracts are signed, any further delay might set off the alarm bells.

Indeed, Fury's latest comments suggest all is not as well as Hearn suggests.

"They've had a full year to try and make this fight happen," Fury told ESPN . "Since the last Wilder fight, even before the Wilder fight, they were talking about a fight potentially between me and Joshua.

Will Joshua vs Fury ever be agreed? Have your say in the comments.

"They've had a full year to make something happen and it hasn't happened as of yet. It is what it is. We're no further forward today than we were a year ago."

Perhaps Fury is simply choosing not to remain abreast of developments and has simply told his team to hand him a pen when they're ready.

His update certainly jars with that of his would-be opponent with Joshua claiming more bullishly: "We're working on a date for around June."

But while Joshua is clearly up to speed with talks, his comments suggest Fury is playing hard to get.
"So if Tyson is serious, which I think he is, he'll know where to come and find the boss," Joshua told Sky News .

"I'm ready. I'm really looking forward to competition – all I want to do is fight, fight, fight!"

It remains to be seen whether no news really is good news.
