The imposing centre back moved to Les Bleu and Blanc last summer from fellow top-tier side Rennes on a four-year contract.

And Nyamsi, 25, impressed in the north-east of France, with Serie A side Napoli said to have made their interest known in the January transfer window.

Premier League duo Leeds and Newcastle have now reportedly joined the race for his signature.

And Jesse Marsch’s Whites are said to be ‘above all’ considering a move for the 25-year-old

Nyamsi, of Cameroonian descent, won 21 of his 35 attempted tackles and 90 of his 135 aerial duels last season.

The Whites have already signed right back Rasmus Kristensen, midfielder Marc Roca and attacker Brenden Aaronson in this window.

But with four years remaining on Nyamsi’s contract, they may have to cough up a sizeable fee to secure the signing.
