Things got heated at Elland Road as Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch was seen squaring up to Wolves manager Bruno Lage in a fiery exchange.

Leeds United got their season off to a great start as they came from behind to win 2-1 at Elland Road on the opening day. It was their first Premier League home win since January, and Marsch was delighted with his side's performance.

However, Lage was furious, and at full-time the pair were seen screaming at one another before the Wolves boss stormed down the tunnel. Marsch is still new to English football, but he's certainly prepared to stand his ground.

While an unhappy Lage was walking towards the tunnel, Marsch stormed towards the Wolves boss and was seen shouting at him up close, before finally backing down. Lage still had some words to deliver but then headed towards the changing rooms to cool off.

It's thought that Marsch was particularly outraged as Lage refused to shake his hand, and instead showed disrespect to the Leeds boss. But Marsch made him instantly make him regret that decision, as the typically cool customer hit boiling point.

It was a thriller at Elland Road as Daniel Podence put Wolves ahead, but after being denied what looked to be a clear penalty, Rodrigo fired the hosts level. New signing Brenden Aaronson inspired the winner as his pressure saw Rayan Aït-Nouri bundle the ball into his own net, and Leeds held off to secure three points.

There has been a lot of uncertainty over Leeds this summer, as they avoided relegation on the final day of last season, and went on to lose their two best players this summer. Raphinha secured a move to Barcelona, while Kalvin Phillips joined champions Manchester City.

And Leeds have reinvested the majority of the funds raised, bringing in six new signings as Marsch looks to rebuild the side. The Peacocks looked bright on their return, suggesting that life after Raphinha and Phillips may not be too bad after all.

Always known for their passionate support, Marsch is almost definitely in the good books of the Leeds fans for his defensive exchange with Lage. And the Leeds fans jeered the Wolves boss as he accepted defeat and headed for the tunnel.
