Lazio star Daniel Guerini, 19 dies in car crash leaving club "shocked by pain"
Lazio have announced the tragic news that 19-year-old midfielder Daniel Guerini has died after a car crash in Rome.
It has been reported that the incident took place in Rome at around 8pm local time, with two others involved in the crash, both believed to be in a critical condition.
Firefighters are said to have intervened on the spot in the incident, but Lazio have since announced Guerini’s passing.
Positing a statement on social media, they said: "We are shocked by the pain. The president and all the people involved with Lazio are together with the family of the young Daniel Guerini."
Guerini started his career with Lazio, before joining the youth ranks at Torino in 2016.
After two loan spells with Fiorentina and one with Spal, he would rejoin Lazio at the start of 2021, where he has been a regular in their Primavera 1 team.
He was also capped by Italy’s development sides, appearing for both the Under-15 and Under-16s.

Fiorenita have since posted a Tweet, reading: “We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Lazio youngster Daniel Guerini, a member of the Fiorentina youth academy in 2018/19 and 2019/20.
“The thoughts of President Commisso and everyone at the club are with the Guerini family at this extremely difficult time.”
While Torino added: "The President Urbano Cairo and the whole Torino Football Club, incredulous and deeply saddened, gather around the Guerini family for the tragic death of Daniel, our former Primavera player."
