Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has definitively shut down rumours that Lautaro Martinez could still move to Tottenham or Arsenal this summer. The Argentine emerged as a target for the Premier League rivals after his starring role in Inter’s title-winning campaign last season.
He scored 17 goals and notched 10 assists in the Italian top-flight last year as Inter lifted their first Scudetto for a decade.
Martinez also scored three goals as his country won the Copa America, starting five of their seven games in the tournament.
His performances drew the eye of Spurs and Arsenal, both of whom are in the market for a new striker this summer.
Tottenham are looking to bring in a new back-up to Harry Kane, with the England captain unsettled and demanding a move to Manchester City.
Kane is the only senior central striker option in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, with a new forward much-needed.

But their rivals are also searching for a new frontman, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta ready to cut ties with Alexandre Lacazette.
The Frenchman has entered the final year of his contract at the Emirates, but he has failed to provide the goals to live up to his hefty price tag.
That saw Martinez emerge as the leading target for both Premier League sides, with Inter’s financial situation making a deal appear set to be simple.
It was reported earlier this month that Spurs had agreed a £60million fee with the Serie A champions, though the potential move collapsed.

It appears that a major reason for that was Martinez himself, with Inter chief Marotta insisting that the Argentine is happy with life at the San Siro.
Ahead of I Nerazzurri’s opening day hammering of Genoa, Marotta moved to put fans’ minds at rest over Martinez’s future.
Though he was injured for the 4-0 win over Enrico Preziosi’s side, Marotta made it clear that Martinez has never wanted to leave the San Siro.
“He is one of those players who explicitly wanted to stay with us, despite having had offers from other clubs,” Marotta told DAZN.
“We are proud, there is a great desire to improve, he wants to prove that he is the champion he showed, we are confident that he can do it.”
But though they have signed Edin Dzeko, who scored on his debut on Saturday, Marotta did admit Inter are still in the market for another striker.
“Another striker? We are looking for it,” the Inter chief executive added.
“We are sure to make the best choice, but I want to be optimistic and I want to reassure our fans. We have to give our best, only in this way will we take away some satisfactions.”
