Frank Lampard is set to be sacked by Chelsea on Monday.

The Blues are known for their lack of patience when it comes to parting ways with head coaches, but the recent form under Lampard has been of particular concern considering their huge summer spend.

Chelsea sit ninth in the Premier League table and five points behind fourth place Liverpool, losing five of their last eight matches including Tuesday’s loss against Leicester.

Although his potential replacement is not yet clear, Lampard will be keen for his legacy as a player at the club not to be tarnished by his unsuccessful spell as manager.

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea players were told not to report to the training ground until the afternoon.

Only yesterday Lampard had praised the support from supporters after a banner backing him to succeed was put up inside Stamford Bridge.

He said: “I knew about the banner a week or two ago directly from the people who put it together.

“They're obviously huge supporters of this club and it was very appreciated.

“One thing I know when I'm at the Bridge, I'm at the club I love and have always had huge support as a player and as a manager.”
