Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid 'could end Eden Hazard at the Bernabeu'
Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid ‘could spell the end for Eden Hazard at the Bernabeu’ with £150m ex-Chelsea star being forced out of his favoured left-wing role… and potentially seeing his disappointing time in Spain end
- Kylian Mbappe has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid this year
- The 22-year-old forward reportedly wants guarantees he can play on the left
- A LaLiga arrival would spell the end of Eden Hazard in Madrid, say reports
- Hazard has suffered an injury-hit time at the Santiago Bernabeu so far
Kylian Mbappe’s potential arrival at Real Madrid later this year would spell the end of Eden Hazard’s time at the LaLiga giants, according to reports.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been strongly linked with a move to the Spanish capital this year with the 22-year-old’s contract with the Ligue 1 side coming to an end in the summer of 2022.
Despite scoring 21 goals in 30 games this season, Mbappe could be tempted to swap France for Spain with PSG falling behind in the Ligue 1 title race and are four points behind league leaders Lille.

And according to Spanish news outlet AS, Mbappe’s insistence that he wants to play on the left-hand side means Hazard would be surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Belgian winger arrived in Madrid in a £150million move from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, becoming the Spanish giants’ all-time record signing.
Hazard was lined up to Los Blancos’ first marquee attacking player since Cristiano Ronaldo departed the Santiago Bernabeu stadium for Juventus in 2018 but injury problems have seen the 30-year-old miss around 40 games for the club in two years.

Zinedine Zidane’s Real are now reportedly eyeing up Mbappe as the new marquee attacker in the Spanish capital but any potential deal for the PSG star would have to include a guarantee that he plays on the left-hand side of the attack.
The AS report says Mbappe recently told new PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino that he does not want to play on the left or through the middle at the Parc des Princes.
This has created a problem for Pochettino, who has Brazilian winger Neymar at his disposal who normally operates from the left-hand side.

However, the Frenchman has shown his abilities in that role recently when he scored a hat-trick at Barcelona in the Champions League last-16 first-leg earlier this month.
PSG remain confident that they can keep Mbappe at the club, despite the links to Real, with sporting director Leonardo claiming negotiations over a new contract are ongoing.
‘On Kylian Mbappe’s contract, we’ve been talking for a long time,’ he told France Bleu.
‘Before, it was mainly to be clear about our position and what we want. There, I think we are getting to the point where we must take a position and a decision. We have a good open dialogue.’
