Tottenham have been dealt a fresh blow in their search for a new manager, after Vincent Kompany reportedly told his backroom staff of his desire to stay at Burnley.
The north London club have been searching for a permanent head coach since Antonio Conte’s dismissal last month, which led to Cristian Stellini’s interim appointment.
However, in the wake of their humiliating 6-1 defeat against Newcastle, the Italian assistant was relieved of his duties on Monday night with Ryan Mason put in temporary charge.
Spurs fans are now desperate to see a new manager appointed, amid growing uncertainty over the club’s progression, but it seems they’ve suffered another setback.
According to The Sun, Burnley boss Kompany revealed to his backroom staff that he wants to stay at the club after leading them back to the Premier League.

Chairman Daniel Levy has been on the search for a new permanent Tottenham head coach
The Clarets head coach was thought to be on Tottenham’s shortlist, given his impressive performances in the Championship this year.
Kompany enjoyed a remarkable campaign this season, winning 31 of his 51 matches in charge following his appointment in July 2022.
The side secured their place in the Premier League next season after beating Middlesbrough earlier this month.
Despite all of this, Mail Sport reported last week that there was some apprehension from figures at the north London club about Kompany’s lack of experience.
Kompany’s first managerial job was at Anderlecht, where he spent two years before joining Burnley ahead of the current season.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are desperate for a new head coach and some stability amid their dismal run of form lately.
The north London side were on the end of a humiliating 6-1 defeat by Newcastle on Sunday, which led to club chairman Daniel Levy releasing a statement.

Levy worded his critical message: ‘Sunday’s performance against Newcastle was wholly unacceptable. It was devastating to see.
‘We can look at many reasons why it happened and whilst myself, the Board, the coaches and players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the responsibility is mine.
He further added: ‘I met with the Player Committee today – the squad is determined to pull together to ensure the strongest possible finish to the season.
‘We are all clear we need to deliver performances which earn your amazing support.’
